Procurement Manager

A leading manufacturer and distributor of milking machines is seeking a Procurement Manager to be based at their facility in Shropshire.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop strong relationships with suppliers and to work with purchasing teams in the various overseas subsidiaries. Therefore an element of overseas travel will be required.

The role involves developing, delivering, communicating and advising on best value for money, effective contract delivery, contract management and performance improvement in relation to third party provided goods and services.

Commercially astute you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, be able to work to strict time and cost constraints and be fully computer literate.

Key areas of focus include:

*Manage the small team of Buyers and administrative staff, setting objectives and leading by example. Help to deliver a genuine customer responsive service

*Negotiate competitive terms from all suppliers

*Seek out and establish relationships with new suppliers where necessary

*Set targets for suppliers based on delivery and quality performance, measure performance against those targets and take the appropriate action

*Review and challenge Make v Buy opportunities, shorten Lead times and reduce inventory levels

Professional Experience and Skills

*CIPS Qualification or Business (or related subject) degree combined with working towards CIPS qualification

*Knowledge of mechanical and electronic components.

*Contract negotiation experience, including drafting terms and conditions.

*Development and operation of a worldwide Supplier Base, including Far East sourcing, and complex tooling management

*Experience of management of off-shore Sub-Contract Manufacturing from a Purchasing perspective.

*Proven track record of cost reduction on all aspects of company expenditure.

*Experience of management and improvement of incoming/outgoing Logistics chain.

Personal Skills

*Team Worker - need to be able to work both in small and larger teams.

*Ability to work both at macro and micro level - excellent attention to detail required.

*Credibility to influence at senior level.

*Priority and time management.

*Self motivated with ability to motivate others.

*”Hands on” practical style - flexibility and willingness to do whatever is required to meet Customer Requirements/Business objectives.

*Willing to travel both in the UK and further afield.
